The Magical World Of Online Coupons - Writing Sample

If there is something shoppers all over the world can agree on is that coupons are heaven sent.  From $5 dollars to 15% off, if we are saving money, we are happy, and that is motivation to keep shopping.  That feeling of satisfaction is the reason why coupons are useful and a great tool for e-commerce businesses to gain new customers and retain frequent shoppers.

Why Coupons?
Coupons are an attractive way of presenting and selling merchandise at a lower price rather than just advertising it that way.  They are a way to make customers feel good about shopping and spending money.  Especially for young adults whom are among the most frequent online shoppers, most of who may not have extra cash to shop and are looking for ways to save money.
Shopping for coupons is now a big part of the online shopping experience.  Consumers are constantly looking for ways to save money.  Personally, when I find a coupon for an online store I tend to always go back to that site just to see what other coupons they may have.  And if they are not offering any coupons I may still browse through the site. Beware; coupons should be used but sparingly.  You want to avoid getting shoppers used to coupons because then that would be the only reason they shop at your site and if you are not offering any coupons they might not buy anything.
Offering coupons like 20% off $100 or even just a coupon for free shipping are great ways of attracting consumers to your site and having them look around and consequently make a purchase.   Most times you don’t have to advertise coupons on your site, apps like RetailMeNot and Groupon can house these coupon codes and people will go look for them, I know I do.
In today’s market there is so much competition from all over the world since the Internet has made it easier to shop online, that it all comes down to price, and shoppers are aware of this.  Offering online coupon codes attracts customers to not only buy the item they want but also look around for more stuff and see how much more they can save.

Retaining Frequent Customers
Offering email coupons to registered users is a personalized way to show appreciation to customers.  It keeps shoppers coming back because they know they can save.  It is always a nice surprise to get a nice coupon that could save you anywhere from $5-$20 and might spark interest in going back and see what else you can get.

Coupons are a small gesture, like bringing flowers to a first date, but they go a long way with customers.  Most young adults are not only shopping for merchandise but also are shopping for coupons that allow them to afford the merchandise.  Imagine your favorite store emailing you coupons every now and again or better yet imagine you’re shopping online and you happen to find a 20% off coupon how excited would you be? More importantly, how much would you buy?
